In the heart of Gallipoli, among the whitewashed streets of the historic old town and the scent of the sea, stands Palazzo Venneri Lloyd, a noble residence that has journeyed through the centuries, carrying with it the gentle weight of history.
The Venneri family, of Theban origin, settled in Gallipoli during the 12th century and became one of the city’s most influential dynasties. Over the generations, they played a significant role in local public life, providing Gallipoli with mayors, council members, and even a baron, when Bonifacio Venneri acquired the fiefdom of Tuglie in 1610.
In the 19th century, the palace was acquired by Liborio Fedele, a prominent figure in local commerce. Today, it is owned by the Lloyd family, who have undertaken a meticulous restoration and enhancement project to preserve its heritage and bring new life to this historic residence.

The palace was built in the early 16th century and stands out for its elegant façade, featuring Doric elements and refined Baroque balconies supported by sculpted corbels adorned with phyto-anthropomorphic motifs. Its interiors still preserve a rich artistic and decorative spirit; among the most remarkable spaces is the grand reception hall, distinguished by its Liberty-style ceiling painted by Agesilao Flora in the late 1920s.
In 1767, the family estate passed to Andrea D’Ospina, who adopted the family name and became its last direct descendant. A city councillor and philanthropist, he left a lasting mark on Gallipoli through public works and charitable contributions, including the donation of the Chapel of Saint Apollonia to the Church of the Paolotti.
